I cannot say that I haven’t had those moments when I really want to watch a movie hands-free. It has happened before, and most recently happened in the plane last week. I was really craving a movie, but I, being me, had forgot to bring one of my many stands
Apple Insider reports that authorized UK iPhone distributor Carphone Warehouse has added placeholders for something labeled as an iPhone "V3" to their inventory system, for both 16GB and 32GB models in both black and white. While it's not conclusive, as such entries are often made on a speculative basis, it does show that someone at Carphone Warehouse is expecting a new iPhone. We have some bad news for our friends in the U.K. who were hoping to get one of the white iPhone 3Gs. O2 has revealed earlier that the white iPhone 3G will not be available from O2 on July 11th, but will "come later". In fact, Carphone Warehouse adds that "that the white 16GB model won’t be available at launch" anywhere in the UK. This makes us wonder if we'll be seeing the fabled white iPhone anywhere at launch, or for some time. [via PocketLint.co.uk]
A reader of the computer technology website PC Advisor is claiming to have information on the plans for the new iPhone's launch at Carphone Warehouse in the UK. He claims that a staff member at his local store revealed times and dates for the launch on his computer.
According to an industry publication, Apple Stores in the UK may not be able to sell the iPhone 3G when the July 11th launch date rolls around. The issue stems from the fact that their new policy requires customers to sign up for a contract in-store instead of through iTunes at home. However, Apple UK stores are not able to run credit checks, and store staff have yet to be trained in getting customers signed up for contracts.
