Judging by the App Store's record, I wouldn't completely endorse developers trying out new, exotic controls schemes for their games in the likes of success - people [usually] won't like change. However, in the case of CM Games' newest release, Slingshot Racing ($0.99), they've mastered a new control scheme and have applied it to the racing genre in the form of an irresistible, universal package.
Without doubt, the genre that universally wastes the most time is racers. Depending on how well the game has been executed overall, you may or may not find yourself unknowingly playing for hours on end striving to get a few seconds better to improve your time or to finish in
It's no question whether the developer behind the new top-down racer Retro Racing ($0.99) is either experienced or enough of a retro junkie for his new game to to be worthy of your spare change with multiple Amiga titles under his belt. In addition to ordering online via Apple's website, both Best Buy and Radio Shack are going to be taking pre-orders in store for the much sought after device. Wal-Mart, however, will not be taking pre-orders.
Earlier this morning Apple sent out a press release confirming that both Apple and Best Buy are opening their retail doors at 9 a.m. on Saturday for the big iPad launch. If you didn't pre-order an iPad earlier, the delivery date for orders placed today is currently April 12, so standing in line at either your local Apple Store or Best Buy could be your only option to have the device in your hands on Saturday. All three Wi-Fi only models will be available, though there has been no indication of the quantity each store will have on hand. The Wi-Fi + 3G model of the iPad will not be available until late April.
