WaterField Designs iPhone Smart Case Review
If you have been looking for an iPhone case/sleeve that goes further than just offering style and protection, the iPhone Smart Case by WaterField Designs accomplishes the feat of adding functionality to a sleeve. The Smart Case showcases what happens when a company tries to push out-of-the-box.
Made out of a nylon that looks and feels much higher quality than average, the Smart Case is substantial. There is an ever-so-slightly shiny texture that looks good. The sides of the case are a soft brown distressed leather, which makes gripping the case comfortable and its look grew on me. Though I would not mind a color choice for the leather, you can choose your favorite color option out of six for the nylon, all of which look vibrant and go well with it. In addition to a niceness and understated simplicity, the nylon contributes to a unique look that goes against the all-leather norm.
With a highly-customizable design, there are a few more choices available to you along with the nylon color option. It is possible to order a size fit for the iPhone 4 with or without an Apple Bumper, and you can also choose to get a flap or a clip depending on how you are planning to use the case.
As a sleeve, an iPhone 4 is easily slid into the completely microsuede-lined interior. The iPhone is just as easy to take out, which is not true with all sleeves, so that’s a definite plus. It is apparent that the Smart Case features a strong padding, making it firm and durable. I am pretty confident that this could save your iPhone from high drops if you are accident-prone. There is definitely protection against everyday bumps.
Not only does the Smart Case hold an iPhone 4, but also anything you can fit into its flexible pocket on the front. When the pocket is not filled, its material adjusts to fit flush against the case. Thanks to its flexibility, it can be stretched pretty far. I was able to effortlessly put thin items like cash and cards into the pocket. Even the iPhone power adapter and USB cable can fit if you ever need them to, but of course they take up a good bit of space and are a slight challenge.
My personal preference for the pocket is to put earphones inside and/or an external battery. Having both of which on you whenever you have your iPhone can be great for those moments when you feel like listening to music or your iPhone runs out of battery. The pocket is really a nice addition, providing you with the ability to add extra functionality to your iPhone or forgo a wallet.
WaterField Designs has been designing a variety of quality protective bags and sleeves for a decade, all made in San Francisco. It is apparent through the company’s products, site, and customer interaction that they genuinely care about putting out a quality product and keeping customers satisfied.
The WaterField Designs iPhone Smart Case is true to its name: smart, thanks to its design, which encompasses just about everything you could want out of an iPhone sleeve and possibly more.
