An FT.com article was published recently that reports on several statistics around the O2 launch of the iPhone in the UK this November. For one, 60% of the UK iPhone users are sending or receiving more than 25 MB of data a month, equivalent to sending and receiving 7,500 emails.
O2's chief, Matthew Key, is excited by the figures, which seem to show that iPhone owners have a strong appetite for data services. In comparison to the iPhone users, only 1.8% of O2's other mobile customers on monthly contracts are consuming data in the 25 MB range.
The increased web surfing from mobile devices may serve to stimulate the world of mobile advertising.
