Virgin America Honors Visionary of Apple, Steve Jobs
“Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish”, a famous quote from a large figure in the history of our modern day, who has unfortunately passed, namely Steve Jobs. That quote not only symbolizes Jobs’ lifelong ethics, but it’s also the line cleverly painted into one of Virgin America’s numerous aircrafts.
The Airbus-A380, one among the many in Virgin’s fleet, has been named after Apple’s visionary, Steve Jobs. Intended as a contender in an internal plane naming contest, the message is set in aluminum, if you will, on Virgin America’s flight, tail number being N845VA.
The quote was originally used by Steve Jobs in 2005 when he gave his acclaimed speech to the audience consisting of Stanford’s students.
“On the back cover of their final issue was a photograph of an early morning country road, the kind you might find yourself hitchhiking on if you were so adventurous. Beneath it were the words: “Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish.” It was their farewell message as they signed off. Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish. And I have always wished that for myself. And now, as you graduate to begin anew, I wish that for you.”
Obviously, the quote represents Steve Jobs’ character in that he thrived by being foolish, adventurous and completely willing to take risks. That’s what Apple was first based on when it was started in Jobs’ garage in Cupertino, hence it’s a strong quote.
