Rumor: Second-Gen iPhone In Testing, Has GPS, 3G

in

So typing the words "3G" and "iPhone" have become a chore here at iPhone Alley, but this one looks good. The folks over at Engadget "have got it on authority" that the iPhone's next iteration is already being tested by certain individuals at Apple. According to their source, the 2G iPhone will be about the same size, only thicker than the current iPhone and sport 3G Internet capabilities and have true GPS. The back of the phone is reportedly just like The iPod Observer said, totally black and glossy.

Additionally, Engadget's source reports that the headphone jack will no longer be recessed, and the volume buttons are now chrome. The battery will still be non-removable and the screen will remain the same size. Certainly sounds like enough improvements to keep most of us happy.

Take this one with a grain of salt, folks. No offense to Ryan Block, but we feel it necessary to mention that the last time he had iPhone details "on authority", it sent Apple's stock tumbling and ended up being false.

I have a question, does any one know if AT&T and other carriers around the world will keep the same data plan pricing for 3G as they do for EDGE?

Not exactly sure but i have a feeling they will... i dont see why not...hopfully tehy do cause i am getting the 3G iphone when it launches!!!

i can't see that actually being the next gen phone tho... i can't imagine apple changing they whole apple line up to aluminum and then making the iphone black?

Looks Great!

I love the all new black glossy look--I'm very sick of the aluminum already. Doesn't GPS kill a cellphone battery though? Maybe we will get our copy and paste on this new model...
