Redsn0w Jailbreak Tool Updated For 3.1.2 Firmware
The iPhone Dev Team has (finally) updated redsn0w to support the iPhone 3.1.2 firmware. While it still requires you to tether the device to a computer running redsn0w every time you want to reboot or so much as look at your late-model iPhone or iPod touch, it does let you jailbreak it without needing the PwnageTool. It also offers custom logos and verbose boot, unlike blackra1n (though blackra1n does not require you to tether).
Note: As always, the Dev Team strongly recommends carefully considering your goals before updating to the 3.1.2 firmware. It should be noted that redsn0w will only jailbreak the device, and updating to 3.1.2 without the PwnageTool will remove your ability to unlock it in the future using the existing tools.
You can read more about redsn0w, including the features it offers, how it differs from other tools out there, and info on if you should or shouldn’t use it, by visiting the Dev Team’s wikee.
