Poll Shows iPhone 3G Owners Rejecting O2 Pricing For iPhone 3G S

Macworld recently surveyed iPhone owners O2 for their carrier (1,400 at the time it was written), and found that there is strong resentment toward O2 for their subsidized pricing policies. Only 14% of respondents will be making the upgrade, and 4.1% will be within their contracts and have to pay the higher price. 47.7%, nearly half, of voters said they would be waiting out their 3G contracts to get the 3G S. In fact, 21% were so outraged that they say they won't buy the new iPhone until it's on a new carrier.

the feelings seem to be the same on this side of the pond

Yea that's how I see it....i mean if money anit no thing then yea sure why not upgrade but really it's not worth it if your already rocking a non broken iPhone 3g. I'm just hang tight cop the Tom Tom combo when it drops and wait for the new phone next year when I can upgrade for less.

o2 Ireland

I have to say that 02 in Ireland, Kilkenny City are doing themselves and Apple no favors. I called in Saturday to see if I could pre-book the new G3S an upgrade from my iphone 3G, and they didn't even know when it would be launched in Ireland and didn't even know that the 3GS had been unveiled by Apple , they had very little details on their pricing structure for new customers or for upgrading from either the iphone edge or 3G versions. I was extremely disappointed.
A company like 02, with the exclusive rights along with Car phone Warehouse to sell the iphone should be doing more, If I was Steve Jobs I wouldn't be that happy with them. I personally believe that the iphone wipes the floor with the other smart phones available, but there was very little effort, particularly in these recession times to sell. I would have though that with such a great piece of technology close to being launched in Ireland that 02 would have being pushing it hard in all their shops, but no, not even a poster in the window.
