Movistar iPhone Website Found, Taken Down

in

It looks like Telefonica company Movistar meant it when they said that they would be carrying the iPhone in Spain. Someone just pointed us in the direction of a Movistar website for the iPhone. The web page offers official confirmation that the company will be carrying the device. It's obvious that the page was not intended to be found by the public, as it has been taken down and replaced with a blank black page.

Visitors to the site, which was located at http://www.iphone.movistar.es/index2.html, had the option of signing up to be notified of the launch date. Before it was taken down, the page read (translation):

"Movistar brings you the magic of the iPhone. Would you like to know when? There are already 29 impatient people."

Gizmodo claims to have sources from within the company that say that the device will launch on June 18 in Spain, with a grand opening of Telefónica's megastore in Madrid's Gran Vía, followed soon after by a nationwide launch.
