MLA Orders Developer To Remove Baseball Team Logos From iPhone App
The Major League Baseball association is pressing charges against a small developer for using MLB team logos in their app. The app is called Baseball (iTunes), and it offers thousands of team and player statistics, reaching back to 1888, all the way up to the current baseball season.
The move is especially confusing, given that Mark Knopper of Bulbous Ventures, the developer of the Baseball app, was offering the application for free, and didn’t profit from it’s success directly. He says that he’s sad to see that his “labor of love” must undergo these changes. He’s not sure what he will replace the logos with, but that he will either blur them out or replace them with alternative images.
