It’s Official! iPhone 4 [Updated]
As expected, Steve Jobs just announced the latest iPhone, and it’s officially called iPhone 4. No surprises, it looks exactly like the photos from Steve’s favorite blog, Gizmodo. It’s only 9.2mm thick, 24% thinner than the current iPhone… the thinnest smartphone on the planet. The new display features an amazing 326 pixels per inch, which is a 960×480 resolution with 800:1 contrast ratio. As expected the new device features the A4 chip, a second mic for noise cancellation, and a front-facing camera, a 5MP rear camera with an LED flash. The new updated camera system supports HD video as well (720p at 30 fps). The battery has been improved and is expected to get 7 hours of talk time, 10 hours of browsing or video.
We are still waiting on more details, including pricing and availability. We will update this post as soon as we get more information.
Update: The font-facing camera is indeed for video chat, called “FaceTime.” The phone comes in black or white (including the face), but still is limited to 16GB or 32GB… $199 and $299 respectively. And the answer we’ve all been waiting for… available on June 24, with pre-orders starting on June 15.
