iPhones Unavailable in US and UK Apple Stores, New iPhone Coming?

Checking Apple's UK and US Online Stores today reveals that the iPhone is "Currently Unavailable". Apple phone sales will tell you the same thing, "we're all out of iPhones". We asked a few telesales representatives when they'd have more available and they're honestly not sure; Apple telesales has never been completely out of them before. As we mentioned on last night's podcast, Apple usually depletes a particular product's supply before releasing a new revision. We think that's exactly what Apple is doing with the iPhone.
Recently there's been lots of talk about the iPhone becoming less and less available in the UK. For the most part, iPhone shortages have only affected O2 and Carphone Warehouse, leaving the US and UK Apple Online Store with plenty of available stock. Now that the shortage has hit the US, it seems clear that Apple is gearing up to release the new iPhone.

Apple is rumored to be releasing a new iPhone as soon as June 9th, which is the first day of Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference. Apple has also officially announced that the next big version of the iPhone's software will come in "late June".
