Guide For Thoroughly Erasing Your iPhone

in

Our good friend Mark over at Hack that phone has just published a fantastic guide on how to wipe all personal data from the iPhone. The guide is in response to a recent concern that user data is not completely erased using iTunes' restore method. Using this guide should provide adequate data protection when it's time to move on to a new iPhone.

There have been a number of suggested ways to erase an iPhone before handing it over to a new owner, such as erasing and then filling it to the brim with music. This method would work, but it still leaves all your music instead of your personal data. Not to mention, there's still a chance that some of the info may not be overwritten.

The method Mark outlines is thorough and effective. It's Mac only, although Windows users who know their way around a command line can easily translate the method over.
