Dev-Team Releases Unsupported 2G iPod touch Jailbreak

The iPhone Dev-Team has released an unsupported version of the upcoming 2G iPod touch jailbreak, dubbed "redsn0w." Available at redsn0w.com, the jailbreak is Mac-only and does not include a GUI. Because the process is "tethered" and involves using the command-line, the Dev-Team cautions that only experienced users attempt the jailbreak. Furthermore, they will not be providing any support on their blog.

If you're willing to attempt the jailbreak be sure to read the instructions first. If it seems too difficult, we advise waiting for a supported release.

Thanks to Andrew for the tip!

Sorry Andrew, I just realized that I didn't credit you after I went back to my inbox. Credit = given. My gratitude -> you.

No worries

Thanks so much for the credit, this site rocks!

Why is the jailbreak for the iPod Touch so far behind the iPhone? I only have an iPhone so I'm unfamiliar with the differences. Aside from the physical differences I had always assumed that the software was pretty much the same.

The original iPod touch is easily jailbreak-able. The 2G iPod touch is significantly different. Who knows why...
