Dev Team Jailbreaks iPhone 2.0 Software [Update: 2.0 Unlocked]

Although not much information is available right now, the iPhone Dev Team has released screenshots proving that they have successfully jailbroken the iPhone 2.0 software. From the shots, it appears that both Installer and BootNeuter are up and running on the new OS. We also assume that this was accomplished using their pwnage tool, which is the Dev Team's preferred method for jailbreak these days.

The jailbreak method hasn't been released to the public yet, although we assume it won't be long. An unlock method is said to be still in the works.

Gizmodo also reports that the Dev Team has successfully unlocked the iPhone 2.0 software. Both the jailbreak and unlock will come with a new version of the pwnage tool, although no release date has been set.

WoW

They are serious. The software isn't completely released and they have it jailbroken already. Congrats. Because I'm not updated my phone until a jailbreak is released. My iphone is just how I like it, I'm dont need the app store right now. Keep up the good work Dev Team!! and everyone else trying to keep the installer alive.

THat just indicates how many people love their iphone to be free

That's pretty amazing. I guess that's why the business model for the phone changed, and now we get a subsidized phone, but only WITH a contract. ATT obviously saw the writing on the wall when it came to Apple selling the phone without requiring a contract @ p.o.s.

c'mon dev team! release 1.2 already!!!!

yes!

go dev team! its no surprise that their tool works still since they worked on all of the betas. on their website it also mentions that their tests with the new iphone 3g were succesful and that they were making headway on hacking it as well. viva la dev team
