Apple Launches a New Back to School Promotion in Japan

If you live in Japan, and you’re heading off to college hence you’re going to purchase a spanking new Mac soon, you’ll also get an accompanying iTunes giftcard in light of Apple’s annual Back to School Japanese promotion. Running from today till May 22nd, the new promotion sets students up with a good backing before heading off to college.

The new promotion awards anyone who purchase a Mac, an iTunes giftcard worth ¥10,000, which translates to roughly $129. The credit can be used in all of Apple’s stores: the App Store, the Mac App Store, iTunes which also means iBooks. Apple recently launched a new textbook-savvy version of their popular eBook interface for iOS, which would be a great investment with the use of this giftcard had they been available in Japan – could we possibly see this internationalization soon?

By purchasing any standard Mac, you’re eligible for the promotion. This, however, excludes Mac Minis as well as any refurbished Macs that you buy. Before, Apple has promotions in the US offering printers and iPod Touch device and more recently a $100 Apple giftcard to promote the purchase of their hardware rather than simply giving it away. Like we’ve stated above, the promotion lasts until May 22. Additional information is available here.
