PhoneSaber Pulled From App Store -    #1

PhoneSaber, the popular iPhone app that makes lightsaber sound effects, has been pulled from the App Store at the request of THQ Wireless. The company currently owns the rights to Star Wars apps on mobile devices, and has very politely requested that TheMacBox, PhoneSaber's creators, remove it from the iTunes store. Luckily they say that THQ Wireless isn't being mean about it and have said they are looking to collaborate with them to create an official Star Wars version.

“They want to do some sort of official, Star Wars branded version of PhoneSaber, and will be working with us on that one,” reads a post on TheMacBox’s blog. “I don’t know any information beyond that, whether they plan to charge for it, advertise with it or what, but we’ll keep you updated on as much as we’re allowed to tell you.”

Personally, I think the fact that they're wasting their time with an app like this is pretty lame and is probably motivated by greed.

Great, so one of the most popular and free apps is gone and will most likely be replaced by a Pay-version from THQ. Thanks a lot.

Just hope that it is free or cheap, and better

If it's that popular, it's only smart for them to start charging for it. Makes perfect sense. However, I don't see it costing anything at this point. I could be wrong though.

Which is worse? -    #8
I'm not sure what is worse? people making useless apps like this, or the fact that people would actually PAY for crap like this. I dont care if its a penny, its useless. I thought there would be some descent apps but so far im not impressed by any of them. Im to the point where i want out, i want to stop dealing with apples bs, the crappy developers who are trying to scheme people, etc etc and go back to a normal phone with copy/paste, MMS and A2DP.

Im more disappointed with the iphone community. where are peoples values today? they must have gone out with the trash in todays society.

"fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering suffering is the dark side of the force"
Only a portion of the iphone apps have actually gotten through into the iphone app store which is unfortunate that we have to wait for the great ones or jailbreak for them, but all things come to those who wait, so if you chill and move on or just wait it out like the rest of us who are waiting for the same things you are. We all might become joyous people all at once, who knows....

I have been waiting since day 1(or day 29) for apple to include A2DP. I was even told by an apple rep that i would be included in the FIRST software update. Im to the point of walking into the apple store and chucking my iphone at the managers face, then kickin him in the groin and then giving him a tittie twister right after i stretch his underware up and over his face.

In my experience Apple staff usually say ""it's a sackable offence to speculate" (or similar) when asked questions like this. Do you really think that a representative of your local Apple store would be breaking news of the A2DP feature to you exclusively before Steve Jobs did a Keynote release for the feature along with a range of wireless headphones and accessories? Pfft! Also, all of these features that people are ready to "crack skulls" for, like A2DP and OBEX push (address book sending) are not software features - they are hardware features. If Apple laid all of their cards on the table at once what would they sell us at the next Keynote? Relax and enjoy what you have - these features will come to a later Gen iPhone eventually. If that's not good enough go try a windows mobile. Then you'll have something to bitch about. End Rant

Get an A2DP dongle! It brings the song name and track details up on my new Clarion in my car. I just plug it into the serial port at the bottom and Whammo! Wireless audio. Sounds amazing too. I picked up the dongle for $60. They're a dime-a-dozen. Here's a link to a similar one i have.
