Stuck, cant get out of this cycle. - February 24th, 2008, 02:30 AM #1 |
|
Just bought my iPhone today.
It was an ootb 1.1.2 First thing i did was activate and get it going in Itunes. It upgraded to 1.1.3 I downloaded and ran the Ziphone OSX 2.4 Worked great. restarted and I was jail broken just fine. Installed a few apps from the installer and went about my day. All was running smooth until i chose to add in a few more apps from the installer. I added 2 - Some community list from under sources. then i put in the AppFlow app. I hit the home button to go back and here is where the trouble began. When I left the installer app the home screen did its refresh, this time it made a little chime sound and I get a message that says "Edit Home Screen" the rest of the message explains how to hold the icon and then move it. There is a "Dismiss" button. Then after about 5-6 seconds the little spinning flower (whatever you call it) come up and spins then the whole home screen refreshes and the "Edit Home Screen" come right back up. It just loops this over and over and over. not enough time for me to get back into the install and uninstall anything, its a pain to try to shut it down, all timing, I get it shut down and turn it back on and right back into that issue. ITunes will not see the iphone now, and Ziphone will not connect now either. Help what can i do, im stuck with a new phone that just brings up 1 menu and refreshes the home screen over and over and over..... |

You can restore to 1.1.4 then use ziphone 2.5 to activate, jailbreak, and unlock. By far the easiest method. I have everything working.

iphone stuck - March 4th, 2008, 01:44 AM #8 |
|
Mine is a little more complicated..
Using a 1.1.2 OBT, upgraded to 1.1.3 and Zibried it with Ziphone v2.2.. worked fine for a while, then started getting stuck but can be fixed if restarted. Then i thought i could fix it if i upgrade it to 1.1.4. Upgraded to 1.1.4 with Ziphone 2.5c... The show starts.. It started getting stuck when i go into settings and on restarting it gets stuck on 'slide to unlock' screen.. Even after restoring, the problem persists.. Most of the time after restoring, when i start ZiPhone the process starts but gets stuck at 'slide for emergency' screen even before completing the unlock. Tried all sorts of downgrade and upgrade but the same prob repeating itself.. Need some serious help guys |

I may be able to help. You need to enter DFU mode and RESTORE to 1.1.4. That is the thing everyone is missing. If you don't know how to get into DFU mode, it's an option under the advanced options of ziphone. Once in that mode, iTunes will detect your iphone in RECOVERY mode, then hold down the SHIFT key and press RESTORE. Point to the 1.1.4 firmware restore file that you need to have downloaded to your computer. A link to this file is located in the help section in the ziphone program. Once you have RESTORED that way, then you can use ziphone to DO IT ALL or whatever you wish. This is the most reliable way to get 1.1.4. Please do it this way people!!!!

Same problem, can't connect through itunes - March 30th, 2008, 12:06 AM #13 |
|
The pop up keeps coming and it seems like the only item on the home page to work is the installer and that runs verrrry so, so the pop up comes back before I can get to the uninstaller.
This started after I installed iswitcher AE and some themes. I can access the phone through ws ftp and deleted that app but it is still very slo and some apps seem to be missing. One more strange this, in wsftp if I went to the top directory "var" was a "link" type file (looks like a chain link) but now it is listed as binary. Some how that changed, I compared this to a friends phone. Any idea how I can stop this or restore? The person that started this thread said they did it but never told how ![]() |

oookkk!
Well, Im havin gthis endless loop issue too. But does anyone here really know how to fix this bug? maybe something you can type in the shell to close the program? Or is it possible to nano/vi into a config and change a setting? I have defaulted the phone to 1.1.1 - 1.1.4 and had the same issue every single time. The problem i believe is an error with ziphone and the BSD distro used to hack the phone itself. Now the question is: Is there a stable way to hack the iphone so that it works? Or should I just wait until apple allows 3rd party software on the iphone? I used the following. Itunes: V:7.6.2.9 ZiPhone V.3.0 The ZiPhone hack works, as long as you dont install any third party software. Its almost like the problem is centered around your not being allowed to have more then 16 programs on the phone. |

well i found out what the problem is for those who need to know.
The salt used in the default passwd script in the bsd load used in the hack is different from the salt used by the iphone springboard. This makes the iphone unable to login to itself to accept the springboard settings. You have to use a peril script to create a new password in the master.passwd file on the iphone. take a look at this blog. http://www.overridersworld.com/?p=74 locate this line in the master.passwd file and change the root password. root:/smx7MYTQIi2M:0:0::0:0:System Administrator:/var/root:/bin/sh you can use this snipit to make the new password with the correct salt. openssl passwd -crypt -salt /s myNewPasswd |
