iDisk Application Coming to App Store -    #1

Lost amongst the other items yesterday was Apple's (silent) announcement of an iDisk application for MobileMe customers. The app will allow users to access files stored on their MobileMe iDisk from their iPhone or iPod touch. iWork and Microsoft Office documents, as well as PDFs, audio, and video can can all be opened using the app. Files can't be downloaded, although it does cache recently viewed documents. Files can also be shared from the app and public folders are available as well.

When it's released, the iDisk app will be free.

The thing is that you can do this free with Google. So am I missing something with Mobile Me? True I can't find my iphone as you will be able to do with 3GS but....I have never lost it that badly where I can't call it to hear my truly obnoxious Dr. Horrible/Bad Horse ringtone.

Across one row of the first screen page I have shortcuts to Gmail, Goggle Docs, Goggle Tasks, and Picasa.

They work brilliantly.

So what am I missing?

Well of course it's only useful to people with MobileMe accounts
