Things We Like: Video of Lock Screen Widgets for Jailbroken iPhones

Maybe there's still something to be said for jailbreaking after all. According to The Unofficial Apple Weblog, the following footage of SmartScreen, an app that lets you add and use widgets on your iPhone lock screen, has been released:

The software is jailbreak-only and will be launched in November 2009. Widget developers are currently being accepted to an invitation-only beta program. Details for the beta program and the SmartScreen product are available at the media-phone web site.

Me no like. Sorry.

Looks like it may be interesting with the right widgets. I'd be interested to see how this will affect performance/battery.

well if the final build is good enough ill be jailbreaking again

Have Your Widgets Now

Hiyall,
this looks very nice - however, if you want to build your *own* widgets, *now*, (and don't mind them not being as sophisticated) then check out the latest version of iFuntastic.

It has a new 'Widgetation' page (gasp.)
Lock screen example (and app download) at http://iFuntastic.com.

Cheers,
Chris

PS: I've noticed that depending on the frequency of widgets accessing the internet, the impact on battery life can be significant - it's those %#$%@ radios :-(
