AT&T Sporadically Launching iPhone MMS Feature Before September 25th Start Date

AT&T not only may have been telling the truth about its upcoming MMS feature for the iPhone, but may be launching the feature ahead of schedule per MacRumors with The Unofficial Apple Weblog kicking in to say that several readers have reported that MMS has stated working for them.

The users have reported that upon installing updated carrier settings profile data to their iPhones, the results of which ranging from MMS actually working to accidentally removing Visual Voicemail and even the basic ability to make phone calls, most people were still unable to use MMS due to settings on their AT&T account which prevent iPhones from sending media messages and filter incoming messages through their web-based "Multimedia Messaging" platform.

Even so, MMS functionality seems to be working and reports are flowing in from around the country that MMS has started working in different markets. There are still quite a number of people out there that don't have it yet, but it looks like AT&T is actually serious about meeting its stated September 25th deadline.

It's also worth mentioning that the majority of users who have reported MMS as working have the "AT&T 5.0" carrier profile installed, which is included as part of the iPhone 3.1 update.

If you've seen this on your iPhone, please let us know about your experience and where you're located so we can take a closer look at it!

WOOOOOO

wooo, a whole 11 days early. I dont know who they are trying to impress by im not. As an iphone user since day one, at&t can suck my balls.

I have MMS (sporadically) in CO

I live in Colorado Springs, CO, and I have MMS early...
Sometimes I have to try 2 or 3 times to get them to go through, but I have been receiving all incoming MMS's since the 3.1 update.
All 3 of our families' iPhones have however been dropping calls a LOT, since before the update.

This may or may not be a link to the carrier update... http://b6.s3.p.quickshareit.com/files/att_us9ad1f.ipcc

The one that was posted somewhere else is 59.1kb. This one you posted is 31.8kb. So I don't know which one is the official ipcc.

Michael, Im just curious I was about to update my carrier file but noticed before I got to it that a picture message went through to my verizon phone so I sent one from my verizon line to my iphone and it received it right then as well.

Right now I am on Version 3.0.1 (7a400) with Carrier Profile AT&T 5.0

I didnt have to do anything and it works, let me know if you have a different carrier profile and if your on 3.1? also are you able to tether because I still am able and thought i read if you update to 3.1 it will break that ability

I used the bigger sized one and it does work for me. Another person tried it on his iphone also, but he was having issues with getting service. I reset network settings, cleared the MMS info, and MMS seems to still work on mine tho. Carrier is 5.1.

I wouldn't know if they released the carrier file update for my phone because I got MMS back in August on my own.

But it's been working for me ever since I'm I'm good.

MMS is DEAD!!!!

kinda...
