Facebook App For iPhone To Get Update For OS 3.0

The Facebook crew has announced an update for their Facebook app for the iPhone and iPod touch to be available "very soon". The update is "98% done", and adds 15 new features to the app, including many optimizations for the features available in OS 3.0. It also sports an impressive new interface that should make navigating the app a great deal easier.

New Features:

  1. The "new" News Feed
  2. Like
  3. Events (including the ability to RSVP)
  4. Notes
  5. Pages
  6. Create new photo albums
  7. Upload photos to any album
  8. Zoom into photos
  9. Easier photo tagging
  10. Profile Pictures albums
  11. A new home screen for easy access to all your stuff, search, and notifications
  12. Add your favorite profiles and pages to the home screen
  13. Better Notifications (they link to the comments so you can reply)
  14. Quickly call or text people right from the Friends page
  15. Messages you are typing will be restored if you quit or are interrupted by a phone call

Push Notifications will not be available yet:

The one feature everyone is asking for, Push Notifications, is in development but it won't make it into 3.0. You can expect it in a 3.1 update later this summer.

It doesn't. Have you actually tried the FB app? It's super limited to what it can do. It's mainly just to see who posted on your wall, post on someone else's, see a couple of pics, and update your status. 3.0 will offer more features, but FB's website is still much better.

im a big time facebook user mostly cuz im in my last year of college......so i spend a fair amount of time on both facebooks...i have bones to pick with both places but with what looks like a lot of fixs that i personally thought was very much needed im leading towards the app more so than the web site....because if one more person sends me a fake beer or wants me to be in their online mob i might snap the screen off my mac

WOW the new Facebook app looks great, I always thought it was nice but those screenshots look like the new one is going to blow the old one away, I can't wait !!

facebook sucks. regardless of what the app does or does not do. try keeping in touch with friends with a phone call or actually hanging out with them.....i look at these post that are on some of these sites and its sad to think that the human race is so freaking lazy. Someone should just blow up facebook and myspace servers so people can get back to reality.

and to all you facebook lovers: i dont need facebook to keep in contact with my friends. my friend know what im doing cause they are friend...get it!!!!!!! i dont need to drink a virtual beer or POKE them.......fucking retarted that there are that many idiots who use this crap...

and i bet you have alot of friend, don't you?

You know what else is retarded? Ignorant, bitter douche-tards that post on a forum to critisize people discussing something they like when they have absolutely no interest in it themselves in a pathetic attempt to get attention.

Facebook isn't about being lazy dipshit. It's a great way to stay in touch with ALL of your friends at one time, keeping everyone posted on whats going on with you, sharing snapshots of what your doing at any given momment, posting a link to a great porn site or video and vice versa. Sure you can give a buddy a call, but not evrybody has time to talk on the phone at any given momment or maybe your friends all went out and they want to share with you what they are doing if you couldnt make it by posting a pic or a vid.. When your at work having a shitty day, its a great way to quickly post your opinions and have your friends respond with comments on how they can relate to your situation. Sounds like your the lazy one if you have so much time on your hands to talk on the phone.. get with the times..

your a butthead.. but on the bright side, now i have a funny story to post on my FB wall.. lol.. (insert middle finger HERE)

You must not have many friends if you can just call them ALL up whenever you just want to talk. =/ But since you seem so desperate, I'll be your friend! :]

You're right that humans in general are lazy, but Facebook has nothing to do with being lazy. It just makes it easier to talk to your friends. And if you really want to get technical, I could say you're lazy for calling your friends instead of walking to their houses every time you want to talk.

Every time you post, it seems to be out of rage. I often wonder if you are the kind of guy like Merlin Mann that is deliberately rude to be funny, and everybody understands that he is just being humorous.
