iPhone clones

The first few iPhone clones we saw come out of China were fairly pathetic, but as the guys in China have more time to work on it, the iPhone clones they are producing are becoming more and more believable, to the point where it's almost frightening. The guys at MacMedics recently got their hands on one of the newer clones, and it's frighteningly close to the original. Still, as close as they get to copying the hardware, the software still falls flat on it's face. Video after the break.

An elaborate iPhone scam has been running rampant in Russia. People have been pawning off fake iPhones as the real deal for cash. Scammers approach users with an elaborate fake iPhone, usually pretending to be in a big rush, asking to trade it for money to, for example, buy a train ticket.

Every once in a while it can be fun to look at some foreign attempts at making their own knock-off versions of the iPhone and iPhone 3G. Here are few more recent developments that we found particularly entertaining.

Some news coverage has hit YouTube that offers an interesting look into the thriving iPhone-clone market that has taken hold in China. The report discusses how counterfeiters have created fakes that act similar to the real thing for less than half the price and ahead of the iPhone launch, and even with a few additional features.
