Latest iPhone OS 3.1 Beta Points to Unknown Device

An updated USBConfiguration.plist file discovered in the most recent version of the iPhone OS 3.1 firmware beta offers evidence that Apple is continuing development on an unknown device. According to an ArsTechnica story, the product, referred to as "iProd", was first discovered in March and has since been updated as "1,1", which has led users to believe there is indeed an unknown product inside of Apple under active development running the iPhone OS.

Apple Seeds 2.1 Beta #2 To Developers

No more than a week after the first beta of firmware version 2.1 being seeded to developers, Apple has seeded a second beta version. The new version reportedly fixes several bugs in the previous version. It also makes mention of the highly anticipated push notification service.

Apple Working On Beta Testing Program For iPhone Apps [Update: False Alarm]

Since its launch, the App Store has been a huge success, offering over 900 apps, and already several million downloads in total. However, Apple's app distribution system does have one inherent flaw. Currently there is no way for a developer to give free access to a paid app for one specific iPhone, which leaves them with no way to beta test apps without pushing it as an update to all users.
