AT&T Responds To Verizon With Their Own Ad

lukewilsonlolwut.png

Since AT&T's request to have Verizon's ads temporarily pulled from the air has been denied, AT&T has begun airing their own commercials to respond to Verizon. The ad features a quizzical Luke Wilson pointing out which company has the fastest 3G network, the ability talk and surf at the same time, access to over 100,000 apps, and more.

Honestly, I'm not too sure if AT&T should start throwing some of these claims around; they may have a counter-lawsuit coming their way. Maybe Luke should have just asked "which network has the iPhone?" Ad follows below!

Verizon Offers Pointed Response to AT&T Advertising Lawsuit

It's sort of like putting feuding siblings in the same room, but without the hope for eventual reconciliation. Earlier this month, wireless carrier AT&T filed suit against rival Verizon over a series of Verizon commercials attacking AT&T's wireless network, claiming that the ads were "blatantly false and misleading". Late Monday, it was reported that Verizon had filed a 53-page legal response to the lawsuit, and taken the opportunity to focus the case on what it claims is AT&T's failure to commit the resources to build out its network appropriately.

AT&T Responds To Verizon Advertisements

It's no secret that AT&T is upset by Verizon's latest ad campaign, "There's a Map for That," which points out the huge difference in 3G coverage between the two networks, having requested the courts force them to change the ads. Now AT&T has issued a public statement in an attempt to "set the record straight about AT&T's wireless data coverage."

iPhone Tethering Is Coming... Eventually

One year and five days ago, AT&T Mobility President Ralph de la Vega told the world that the iPhone would be getting a tethering plan "soon". Not long after, he revised his statement, noting that it would be delayed due to necessary upgrades to the network before it could happen. When asked recently when it would happen, a spokesperson gave yet another non-answer: "We plan to offer tethering on the iPhone but have not announced a date."

Next iPhone To Run On GSM And CDMA Networks, Verizon Launch In 2010?

Rumors of an iPhone on Verizon's network have once again begun to circulate, this time from a report by OTR Global. In the report, they claim that Apple is considering making a new iPhone that would hybrid Verizon's CDMA2000 technology with AT&T's UMTS 3G network. The ability to easily put both in one device recently came about with Qualcomm's new hybrid CDMA/WCDMA chip.

AT&T Seeking To Block Verizon From Showing 3G-less Areas As "Blank" In Ads

AT&T is up in arms over Verizon's latest jab at the iPhone-AT&T duo, a TV ad called "There's A Map For That." The ad directly parodies Apple's series of "There's an App For That" ads that features different apps in the App Store. Unfortunately for AT&T, their argument basically amounts to the notion that Verizon's ad might confuse stupid people who aren't paying attention.

Apple, AT&T Face Additional MMS-Related Class Action Lawsuit

Apple and AT&T get to tackle yet another class action lawsuit regarding delayed MMS support on American iPhone. This time, the case's plaintiff, Alabama resident Clyde Franklin, has charged both Apple and AT&T of misleading the public on MMS availability, with promises that it would become an option on the iPhone 3G and 3GS with the arrival of the v3.0 firmware. It did not, and Franklin notes that only a small disclaimer on the Apple website made mention that AT&T support would only come in "late summer."

AT&T CEO Hints At Possible End To iPhone Exclusivity

While he didn't say it outright, AT&T Mobility CEO Ralph de la Vega gave the strong impression to reporters today that their exclusive deal with Apple as the official carrier of the iPhone in the US is soon coming to an end. The statement came as a response to questions about what AT&T would do if they were no longer the exclusive carrier of the iPhone.

Wireless carrier and exclusive U.S. iPhone provider AT&T reported third quarter results of $3.2 billion on revenue of $30.9 billion in the third quarter. The company also reported the following details including over three million iPhone activations:

Verizon Goes on the Offensive with DroidDoes Commercial

verizon.jpg

Only weeks after attacking AT&T's 3G network and indirectly the iPhone with a "There's a map for that" ad campaign, Verizon has rolled out a new campaign for a yet-to-be-introduced device from Motorola known as the "Droid", the ad focusing on what it perceives as deficiencies in the iPhone. According to Boy Genius Report, the new television commercial, introduced yesterday, features iPhone-like fonts and music listing things the iPhone "doesn't do" and ends with a teaser asking users to sign up at DroidDoes.com for more information.
