While web app development for the iPhone has been mortally wounded by the launch of the App Store, it still has a home at Apple. It was discovered recently that they have a web app for Apple employees to view what's on the menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner each day at the main fuel source of Apple employees, Caffè Macs. Not surprisingly, the app was removed from the URL it was located at shortly after it was leaked to the public.
A new contest is being held for indie iPhone app developers, but it's not your standard software skirmish. Gavin from Antair Games asked several indie developers to put down their keyboard and pick up their spatula to bake a cake about their products. There are a lot of pretty interesting entries, including ones for Scribbal, Chirp!, Chopper, BurnBall and even the infamous iFart (who's cake is quite fitting in our opinion). The iPhone has won numerous awards for it's design and interface, including a National Design Award, a Black Pencil, an MDA, and awards from Stuff Magazine and several others.
