In a race to be one of the first websites worldwide to give Apple's newest addition to its ever-expanding iPhone lineup, the iPhone 5, the teardown treatment, the tech-dissection experts over at iFixit has sent one of its many technicians to an Aussie Apple Store to get his hands on the brand new device.
While those of us who pre-ordered the new iPhone 5 last Friday are absolutely dying inside to get our hands on the device for personal purposes, the folks over at iFixit are eager to receive the new handset and put it through their signature teardown. To whet their appetite in the meantime, the website has gone ahead and dissected the newly-introduced EarPods, highlighting important, improved components that the headphones boast over their lackluster predecessors.
Further confirmation of an Apple media event next month hit the web today, with suggestions that the event might have a slightly broader focus than just the rumored Apple tablet we keep hearing about. According to a "source inside Apple", the event will take place on January 26, 2010 in San Francisco as rumored. The source went on to describe the event as "big", and will focus on the "mobility space", suggesting it may also contain announcements relating to the iPhone and iPod touch.
