We were enchanted by dDurian’s debut puzzle game ‘Potions!’ (yes, the ! at the end of the title makes it that much cooler) to the point we awarded the game four out of five stars and kept in touch with the developer about a major update set to change the
According to a new research note from Canaccord Adams analyst Peter Misek, supplies of the iPad may run low later this month due to a "manufacturing bottleneck" with their partner, Hon Hai Precision. There's a chance it could limit distribution in the US, or even result in them delaying the launch altogether.
While speaking at the Goldman Sachs annual tech conference in San Francisco earlier today, Apple COO Tim Cook said the iPad will be avialable at their retail locations retail locations of select partners at the launch of the device. One of those partners that will have it at launch, they say, is Best Buy, with AT&T being an implied possibility.
Word on the street says that iPad pre-orders may be starting as soon as next week, according to the usual unnamed "source familiar with the matter." The sales would allegedly be starting in the US only on February 25. That's roughly one month in advance of the release date that was projected, which would give them a month to gauge the demand they're going to have on launch day and stock their stores accordingly.
According to BGR, an internal source said to be among the ranks at AT&T is claiming that AT&T will be selling the version of the iPad that has both 3G and Wi-Fi functions in their retail stores nationwide. Word also has it that they plan to convert existing areas dedicated to netbooks and turn them into iPad playgrounds for us techies to get hands-on with the Apple tablets. They didn't give any specific details about the display areas, but they did say they would be substantial. We'll see what that means when the iPad is ready for launch.
Credit Suisse analyst Jonathan Chaplin issued a downgrade for Verizon's stock prices this morning based on the assumption that they are unlikely to get the iPhone this year. There have been a lot of people hoping to see a Verizon iPhone, but it now looks increasingly unlikely after the announcement that the iPad would be on AT&T's 3G network instead of Verizon's.
Talk of a Verizon iPhone settled down in recent months, but Peter Misek is re-igniting the fire, predicting that it is a likely announcement for the coming Apple media event. The Canaccord Adams analyst says that it will likely be alongside an introduction to iPhone OS 4.0 at the event scheduled to take place at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco. Steve is known for his signature "One more thing..." announcements, often saving some of the most impressive or surprising announcements for last, and Misek believes his next one will be a Verizon iPhone, according to intel from "industry sources".
The employees in a factory owned by Wintek Corp., the people that make the touchscreen components for Apple's iPhone and iPod touch, are going on strike. The altercation arose after the local government found no evidence supporting claims that several employees had died due to exposure to toxic chemicals in the workplace. Employees disagree with the report, and have destroyed several pieces of equipment and damaged multiple vehicles in response.
There are officially four carriers for the iPhone in the UK: O2, Orange, Tescos, and as of today, Vodafone. As with the other three carriers, tariffs start at 18 months long, the cheapest being £40/month, providing a free iPhone, 600 minutes and unlimited texting. The plan for 24 months is £35/month, though still more expensive when you do the math. Another 90 quid will get yu a 16GB iPhone 3GS, and £179 on the basic contract gets you the 32GB iPhone 3GS. You can see all the details spelled out at Vodafone's UK website.
The next iPhone will be here in limited supply in April, and be more powerful than previous models, according to a Korean newspaper. They say that Apple will be doing a sort of test run by offering the next generation iPhone to corporate sponsors as soon as April. It will also reportedly contain a dual-core processor, giving it significantly more braun than prior models.
