OtterBox is no doubt the best of the bests when it comes to making durable, rugged cases for all of your electronics, and they’re certainly mine and many others’ favorites. All of their cases, no matter what series, are at the top of their brackets, and that’s rightly so. iPhone
It would appear there are a lot of people trying to pre-order the iPhone 4, as many users are getting "Your request couldn't be processed" errors. At first, I thought it could be that too many people are trying to simultaneously order the new MacMini, but I don't think that is the problem. While all of the order processing looks to be on Apple's website, we've found the errors seem to be generated by AT&T's servers. In order for Apple to proceed, their servers connect with AT&T's servers, and a quick check on AT&T's end of things reveals the problem.
Since becoming available for pre-order last Friday, Apple claims that customers have purchased "hundreds of thousands of the device," per the Wall Street Journal. The number is comparable to the roughly 1.2 million iPhones Apple sold in the three months following the June 29th, 2007 launch of the handset.
The newspaper also claims that Apple is 'racing' to tie up a broad number of content licensing deals before the iPad officially hits the market on April 3rd. In particular, the company is trying to convince television networks to drop the price of TV shows that users would downloaded directly to the device. These efforts and others have reportedly seen the Cupertino-based company temporarily reduce its emphasis on working with newspaper, magazines and textbook publishers on new ways to display their digital content.
Per AppleInsider, Apple has announced shipping delays on some of its forthcoming iPad accessories with both the keyboard dock and 10W USB power adapter now being listed as having ship dates in May.
In addition, the $39 iPad soft case, which was originally scheduled to ship on April 3 when pre-orders began last Friday, has been delayed until mid-April. The $69 keyboard dock was originally scheduled to ship in mid-April, and the $29 USB power adapter in late April.
Despite having no product on hand yet, ordering for the iPad officially started on Friday morning of last week. And with a flurry of eager consumers, estimates for the initial orders went as high as 25,000 in the first hour. By Saturday, the orders were suggested to have slowed to 1,000 per hour, leaving the total estimated sales for the weekend around 150,000. These estimates do not include reservations, only actual paid pre-orders.
This morning, Apple began taking pre-orders for Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + 3G models of the iPad, limit two per person. Wi-Fi models will be ready for home delivery on April 3 and Wi-Fi + 3G models will ship in late April. Apple is also allowing customers to reserve an iPad Wi-Fi for pick up at their favorite Apple store — also limited to two per customer — though no reservations are being taken for the Wi-Fi + 3G model currently.
AT&T has posted a walkthrough video explaining how to order the new iPhone 3G S, and what prices apply to you based on your status with the company. They are allowing pre-orders of the new handsets starting today so you can order ahead to make sure to get one on June 19th. Video after the break
Following rumors that O2 would be doing so, Vodafone India has begun allowing customers to pre-register for 3G contracts in advance of purchasing the device on launch day, despite the fact that the Indian government has yet to issue the final guidelines for the auction of 3G spectrum in that country.
