Popcap’s experimental label within, 4th & Battery had previously released multiple free titles onto the App Store, but not in a way more significant than their most recently released game, Allied Star Police. The newest work from the sub-company, if you will, was released just yesterday in the App Store
Apple has announced the winner of their '1 Billion Apps' promotion. Connor Mulcahey, age 13, of Weston, CT, was the winner when he downloaded the one billionth app to be downloaded: Bump [Free] by developer Bump Technologies, LLC. As promised, Connor will be recieving the MacBook Pro, 10,000 iTunes gift card, an iPod touch, and a Time Capsule. The developer is also getting some pretty good publicity out of the stunt, so it's a win-win situation.
After a two-week countdown, Apple has announced that the one billionth application has been downloaded from the App Store. To celebrate the milestone, Apple announced a promotional giveaway valued at over $13,000. Anyone who downloaded an application in the last two weeks was automatically entered for a chance to win the prize package which includes a $10,000 iTunes Gift Card, an iPod touch, a Time Capsule, and a MacBook Pro. Apple is expected to announce a winner soon.
