Nuance, the makers of speech recognition software for the Mac and PC, have announced that their application, Dragon Naturally Speaking, will soon be available in the App Store for the iPhone. The application lets you dictate short 20-30 second clips, which it then converts to text with astonishing accuracy, giving you the ability to edit, copy to clipboard, or send to Mail or SMS. It's a dual stick shooter, meaning you get one control for the direction your character is moving in and a separate one for the direction he shoots in. Fish Labs has announced that they are in the process of porting Rally Master Pro, a popular racing game that was rated Best Mobile Game of 2008 by Pocket Gamer. Fish Labs say it will be launching "in the autumn" with "reffed up rally graphics". All 3D models and textures are getting revamped with four times the number of polygons than the Java version.
Nissan has developed a custom iPhone application that picks up sensor information from their upcoming electric car to display information about things like the lithium ion battery levels, time required for a full charge, and approximate cost of a recharge on the device's screen. The app would also function as a remote control, allowing a user on a cold day to turn the heat on from outside the vehicle, displaying temperature information.
HP is in the process of unveiling a combination software update and iPhone touch application that will allow the owner to stream video and audio directly from their smart server to their iPhone or iPod touch. The update will include a video converter that will automatically transcode non-protected video to H.264 in both standard format and another optimized for viewing on the iPhone.
