According to a report from Advertising Age, Apple has yet again reduced the price required, at the minimum, for developers to opt into their iAd program. Launching back in the Summer of 2010, the program allows developers to signup and add a little bit of code to their applications to in effect support advertising with the ultimate hope of earning some extra money.
A surprising patent from Apple released in December was just discovered that claims the ground around a 3D user interface on a mobile device. It describes a method for zooming and moving around in a 3D interface using multitouch controls. While the graphic depicts what would appear to be a simple 3D plane with 3D icons on a screen, the patent's text deals more with the core mechanics for using multiple figures simultaneously to navigate a virtual 3D space.
EA has announced Mirror's Edge, a new 3D game for the iPhone and iPod touch based on it's console and PC counterpart. It places you in control of Faith Connors, a member of the underground messenger group called "Runners" who distribute information in a world where it is heavily monitored and restricted. You'll get to use her incredible acrobatic skills to outrun the enemy while delivering messages.
Boost 3D [App Store, $1.99] is a cool new tunnel racing game that puts you zooming down a tunnel, dodging colorful cubic obstacles attached to the walls. Every so often is a boost pad that speeds you up and even let you crash through an obstacle unharmed if you build up enough momentum. You can check out a video after the break.
