For some odd reason, Apple displays a plain, black background while iOS devices are plugged into some sort of power source. Of course, the jailbreak community has decided to come to the rescue with ChargingBackground, a tweak that retains a user's background image even while the battery indicator is present.

Google announced recently that the Google home page will now be location-aware when accessed on an iPhone. Now, whenever you go to Google.com on your iPhone, Google will tap in to the device's GPS capabilities to determine your location and give you location-relevent results. The ability to search with My Location has also been added to the Google Mobile App [$0.00 | App Store].
Skyhook Wireless, the company who's WPS and XPS technology is used in the iPhone and iPhone 3G to locate devices based on nearby Wi-Fi networks, released a report recently outlining the number of location-aware applications in the App Store and some statistical information about them. According to public App Store data, over 300 of the apps in the App Store are location-aware.
Remember that code Jonathan Zdziarski found a few days ago that he said allowed the new 2.x iPhone software to phone home to Apple, letting them zap apps that they blacklisted? Initially we weren't really sure if Apple would be using it as a security precaution or to zap any apps that they don't happen to like anymore, but Daring Fireball's John Gruber has another, less dubious theory.
Have you ever been worried about accidentally misplacing your iPhone out in that big world out there, and not having any clue where to find it? Now, thanks to a new app by Navizon, you can get a clue, or several, just by texting your phone from another phone. The app is called Mobifindr, and when you send a special text combination to your iPhone via SMS message, the app finds the location of the device using the AGPS and texts the location back to you.
