TyroTuner is another guitar tuning application brought to you by Mauvila Software that displays the head of a guitar and a graphical tuning display. By tapping on the tuning bolts, that specific note’s tuner comes up, and users align the tuning rod on the bar.
Pros: An extremely simple display with a very obvious tuning system for Standard tuning. There is also a microphone sensitivity ‘slider’ which allows users to make the microphone pick up tones better.
Cons: While the tuner is capable of tuning very near to perfectly accurate, the graphical tuner tends to bounce around the ‘perfect green zone. That green zone represents the +/- 5 centitones, which is a barely-perceptible difference. I would advise using this to basically tune the guitar, but then be sure to tune by harmonics if you want to make it truly accurate.
Bottom Line: This application is a blatantly simple tuning system with a very easy interface. The simplicity of it can make it almost too low-end, but it definitely works. If I wanted a guitar tuning application, I’d definitely just pay the extra dollar and get OmniTuner, by the same company. It has a plethora of settings that make it far more worth the money than this extraordinarily simple application.
