Winner of Apple’s Milestone Celebration Voucher Announced
Just four years ago the App Store was started for the first of many to come iOS devices. In that little amount of time, the market has grown to accustom a whopping amount of daily users and most recently 25,000,000,000 app downloads – Apple released the news three days ago that their milestone had been reached. The person who downloaded the 25 billionth application will receive $10,000 in iTunes credit, and he has been announced.
Unlike last time’s winner, today’s winner didn’t hang up the telephone when Eddy Cue, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Internet Software and Services, called his home. Residing in Qingdao, China, Chunli Fu will soon receive a $10,000 iTunes voucher than can be used for anything that Apple sells on iTunes – including applications, music, movies, TV shows, podcasts and more. It just so happens that the 25th billion application to be downloaded was Disney’s physics game Where’s My Water? Free.
Promptly following the downloading of the application proceeding the 24,999,999,999th application, Apple posted a message of gratitude on their website as pictured above. Eddie Cue recited the same message when he called Chunli Fu: “We’d like to thank our customers and developers for helping us achieve this historic milestone of 25 billion apps downloaded.” He also didn’t fail to omit, “When we launched the App Store less than four years ago, we never imagined that mobile apps would become the phenomenon they have, or that developers would create such an incredible selection of apps for iOS users.”
Apple will surely hold similar contests like this one in the future when the App Store inevitably reaches hundreds of billions of applications; even though the chances are nearly nonexistent, downloading applications doesn’t hurt, right? Keep on downloading so that we can reach yet another major milestone for the App Store!
