v1.1.2 Jailbreak First Looks

in

Even though it's not quite ready for the public, it's still pretty exciting that it happened so soon as it did. Erica Sadun got an opportunity to try it out for herself, and since then we've given it a go as well. There still isn't a nice little GUI to click on, but the method is well on it's way.

After giving the new jailbreak a try, there are some interesting things that we note. For one, it's actually quite similar to our previous jailbreak guide for v1.1.1.

Erica Sadun notes that the key to doing the jailbreak is preparing your v1.1.1 iPhone before doing the update. She says all you really need to do is install an OS tweak from Installer.app and it should be ready for the update.

As for the jailbreak itself, she got to use a command-line version. Hopefully it will be cleaned up by the time you try it. The software did the jalbreak and then installed SSH on her springboard, making things pretty easy from there.

Interestingly, there was one difference in the jailbreak that stood out. The springboard no longer needed to be updated in order to show the extra apps like it did last time. However, there is some trouble with scrolling. By trouble, I mean that it doesn't scroll at all, so it needs some work.

That's all we have for now. We'll keep you posted as new details emerge and the process is refined. In the meantime, why not take a look at our lovely forum?
