University Requiring Students To Have iPod Touch, iPhone For Med. Curriculum

The University of Florida will be requiring students to own either an iPhone or iPod touch to enroll in their PharmD curriculum this fall, the school announced recently. "All entering PharmD students must have a iPod touch (or iPhone) and a computer meeting minimum UF and College of Pharmacy (COP) requirements," they said in an announcement on their website.

Interestingly, the health care profession has generally been among the first to adopt the iPhone and App Store, with several medical refrence apps, blood glucose monitor accessories, and other software that lets obstetricians to virtually watch over their patients' waveform data.

The university explained later that they won't be enforcing the requiremetn, but added that it would be listed in a way that would allow them to include an iPod touch in their financial needs estimates.

Just one thing to say about that...

It's great to be a FLORIDA GATOR!

I hear that the medical schools of UMDNJ are also requiring the iTouch for their iTunes University lectures.

I wish the Air National Guard required me to have an iPhone 3GS. Then I could upgrade.

After reading I see that it wont be a requirement for the students, because that is a pretty expensive item to have to purchase for a class. And if you get the iPhone your stuck with a 2 year contract. I wonder if the school was able to offer the students discount prices if you take the class, because then I may have to look into enrolling lol

With the school making it a "requirement" students can now use financial aid to purchase an iPhone or iPod Touch. Handy!
