Truephone VoIP Now Works Without WiFi, Adds Truephone Anywhere, Social Feature
VoIP service Truphone announced that they are adding Truphone Anywhere to their iPhone application. The addition will now let iPhone owners call anywhere in the world for as little as $0.06 per minute, making it the first viable alternative to expensive international call charges on AT&T and other carriers. They’ve also added the ability to make calls without Wi-Fi present for the first time.
They also added a new feature that will let you know when your other contacts that use Truphone are online, making it possible to plan free iPhone to iPhone calls using the service.
“No-one likes big mobile bills, and they don’t come any bigger than for international calls” said Geraldine Wilson, Truphone’s new CEO. “But for iPhone users, that no longer needs to be the case. They can choose either to pay standard international call rates, or to reduce them to as little as 3 pence or 6 cents per minute. It’s as simple as that, no catches.”
