Top Ten 'Top Ten iPhone Flaws' List

While the iPhone is still top-notch in our book, it's still not quite as perfect as most would like it to be. Some are fans venting their frustration, others are impartial media trying to get the word out, and still others think it sucks and think you should agree. Boing Boing has compiled a list of their favorite "top ten iPhone flaws" lists.

Among the most popular on the lists were Battery life, the GPS, sub-par carriers and the overall favorite, no copy and paste. You can check out all the lists at BoingBoing.net.

and of course MMS, and copy/paste

Mms

1. MMS
2. No Video
3. No Copy/Paste
4. No Flash/Java
5. Bluetooth Sharing

my only issue is the no mms and not being able to forward txt's... and the fact that AT&T does not include txt'ing as a part of the plan.. we spend so much for the phone why do we gotta pay extra for everything else? and since i gotta pay extra for it, why the hell can't i send a friggin mms?

Jail

My biggest complaint about the iPhone is Apple's control over the platform. I debated moving to the platform for quite a while, and what finally pushed me over the edge was the developer excitement over the platform and the chance to use UNIX on my phone, and so despite my overall happiness with Sprint's pricing and coverage I switched.

So, I can treat the phone like a UNIX terminal if I want to. However, Apple is of course actively fighting this sort of thing, and I don't understand why they should; it just makes using it less fun. Beyond that, their attitude towards developers (killing programs that "duplicate" the functionality of their own apps, no definite description of what would cause an app to be rejected, NDAs on their rejection notices, for Christ's sake!) is really kind of ugly. It's not making me happy, that's for sure.

Well Said

and what about when someone send you a MMS, you have to deal that annoying webpage login. and then it send you a random user id and pswd that you have to write down so you can reenter it, because of the lack of copy/paste. thats pretty retarted!!

That is not correct.

You need to be more precise. The iPhone DOES support Bluetooth audio. It supports the Bluetooth Mono-channel Headset profile (one ear + mic) for the purposes of making and receiving calls.

What it DOESN'T support is the Bluetooth Stereo Headphone profile (two ears, no mic) for wireless broadcast of high quality, stereo music. Just like an OS upgrade added this previously missing feature to the MacOS, this may be something they can fix in the firmware on the phone sometime.

If/when that is ever fixed/added/improved, it will also become important for them to support the Bluetooth Audio/Video Remote Control profile as well.

Wow, some of those lists are pretty esoteric!
This is for a smart-phone, not a spiritual salvation, political candidate, or a cure for cancer, right?

The 10 outstanding issues that really, really matter for the iPhone as a 'smart phone' device:

1. Poor Battery Life
2. Can't Replace Battery
3. No Shooting Videos
4. No MMS
5. No Flash or Java
6. No tethering
7. Crap GPS
8. Gimped Bluetooth
9. Gimped Outlook support
10. No cut and paste

mobile only working half the time

Mobile me not pushing emails and they are only appearing when you manually check it. What gives anyone else having this problem?

1. Mobile me not pushing
2. having to turn your mail on two times

it does have bluetooth stero

sony makes a adapter that you can buy at bestbuy for $50.00

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1190677869598

and it does work in my explorer with a pioneer bluetooth head unit, all I
do is connect it to my iphone and the ipod comes up and connects and plays
over my speakers system and it still recieves call with the normal bluetooth

Very nice. Excellent recommendation.

I wasn't going to mention this earlier, but I also use my Plantronics 590A in a similar fashion. You pair it with both the iPhone and the 590A Bluetooth Stereo dongle, then you can listen to music or take calls without too much trouble.

However the 590A (including dongle) typically sells for over $125.00, and the headset plastics become cracked/broken over time, so if you have any better Bluetooth headset/headphones and can get the Sony dongle, you should probably go with that!

Real issues

1) Dropped calls with 3G. I love my iPhone but it must, must, must also be a phone. I'm paying for 3G but have relageted myself to EDGE just so that I can stop my dropped calls.
2) Copy & Paste
3) Battery Life. I know this could be better and it would certainly be a good thing for the battery to be replaceable.
4) AT&T. Come on let's face it AT&T is not the best carrier out there. I've been an AT&T customer in the past and they have always suffered from dropped calls. Other carriers do better, why can't AT&T. Certainly can't be for lack of money...the iPhone alone has brought them a TON of business.
5) This one really probably belongs higher on the list but Apple really should beef up their ActiveSync support. Yes, it works, but FAR from all the feature set it needs and should have for all the business customers that jumped on the iPhone now that it supports the Exchange world.

Never had an issue w/ GPS.

MMS and copy/paste are the biggest. Video is close behind.

is that too much to ask?

Personally I'm frustrated with dropped calls but that's more the problem of AT&T, not Apple!
What i'd really like to have is bluetooth sharind, mms, a better camera and of course a longer battery life. How come Apple can't cope with this? Is that too much to ask?
BTW, did you know you can win a free iPhone 3g on Pikaba.com?

No it does not!!!!

Yes it will support a phone conversations, but it WILL NOT support ipod music thru the headset(A2DP)

If you have to buy an adapter it does not count as supporting it, its an adapter! if it did have A2DP i would not have to buy an adapter.

The only work around for getting music thru a headset using bluetooth is only found on 1.1.4. 2.0+ does not support the workaround(voicemail screen) and that is WITHOUT an adapter.

Bottom line is im very frustrated with apple for messing with the bluetooth functions every software version and still never adds any function, they just keep taking it away.

Bluetooth Stereo Headset

You know the bluetooth stereo is coming. They have found a bluetooth chip in the 2G iPod Touch. Let them work out the bugs. No point in having it if it dosn't work 100%. 70% sound quality is not enough for me to get a bluetooth stereo headset.

I seriously doubt it

I am so skeptical of this, only cause i have heard so many times that it is coming and it never has. beside, the iphone does have a bluetooth chip in it, so why is it so surprising that the ipod touch has it? 70% if perfect for me. Why you ask? I ride a motorcycle and my helmet has a bluetooth headset built into it and listening to music while you ride is most enjoyable. Much better than just the wind noise when your traveling for 180 miles at a time. I would love to upgrade past 1.1.4 but if i go to 2.0+ i will loose the bluetooth audio work around that i am using now. I would just like to have some of the other features like being able to delete more than one email at a time..etc. (i can care less about the apps store, music store) I would love upgrade to the 3g if i didnt have to pay the increased data plan, which i wont use cause i edge does everything i need it to do. the only reason i would upgrade would be for the GPS but why would i want to pay more.

Is it just me or is apple turning into a company like microsoft where they have to control every aspect of the device and nickle and dime it customers to death? the new data plan is a perfect example of this. they take away our texting and up the price, then we have to add texting back for another fee. The only reason they did this is because they can and people will pay for it. Think about it. if on opening day no one bought the iphone 3g because of the data plan they would have changed their minds.

Question? anyone who had an original iphone who upgrade to the 3G, is it worth the extra money a month for a semi faster internet connection for some of the times(area permitting) And would you downgrade back to the original iphone?

If the new iphone only had edge, and GPS with no 3G or WI-FI i would buy it cause the data plan would be the same and i dont need 3G or WI-CRAP.
