The Visually Impaired Love the iPad

Sadly, accessibility is not something I think about when playing with the latest gadgetry, but people who are blind or partially blind certainly do, and it appears that Apple is paying attention as well. Apparently, despite only offering a touchscreen for input, the iPad is a great device for the blind. UK’s Royal National Institute of Blind People is the most recent group to come out in support of the iPad for people with vision impairments. Apple has also been commended for its work in making the iPad a suitable device for the blind by our own National Federation of the Blind and the American Federation for the Blind. Comparatively, Amazon’s Kindle has been promising more accessibility options for its eReader, but has yet to deliver. Apple’s iPad offered it from day one.
