Sprint Releases New Anti-iPhone Ads

in

Earlier this month it was discovered that Sprint had spent $100 million on an ad campaign specifically to bash the iPhone in favor of Samsung's Instinct, which runs on Sprint's network. Now it looks like they're at it again, with several more of their ads aimed at the Apple handset.

This latest ad shows the Samsung Instinct showing off features that the iPhone doesn't technically officially have, such as streaming live TV, video recording, accessing a music store while not around Wi-Fi, GPS, and running on Sprint's broadband (3G) network compared to AT&T's slower EDGE.

For those of you having doubts, there are some points that Sprint obviously didn't go out of their way to clarify. For one, many of these features will be available with the next iPhone or with the June opening of the App Store. For example:

  • Apple probably won't add live TV, but who needs live TV when you have video podcasts? Well, it's not the same, but someone could easily make a live TV app once the app store opens up next month.
  • The next iPhone will almost definitely have 3G
  • The technology exists for Apple to put GPS on the iPhone. Whether Apple will do it or not, we're not sure.
  • The iPhone is already capable of capturing video (see iPhone Video Recorder). You can bet Apple will probably add this feature with the next update. If not, then (as with everything else) there's always the App Store.
  • As for the music store, downloading music over EDGE would be slow as dirt and would potentially bog down AT&T's network, especially considering that the iTunes Music Store is the top music store in the world. This may also change once 3G arrives.

oh yes:P

Apple fanboys news You can buy phone for ~$399, and then add more stuff (live tv, video recording and etc.) and spend once again $200

totally crap

p.s. I hate stupid com. where stuff are comparable and one is better, and other - not. iPhone is media phone, he don't have some tech. spec. but have fast interface and so on. Samsung have more technical stuff, but interface it's not so briliant

even if the sprint phone is better than the iphone i still think the iphone is the man when it comes to tec... i live in newyork and had.. HAD... sprint and that peace of crap didnt work in ny for sh*t .. i couldnt get a signal to save my life. but now i have att and even in the basment of my store i have a full bar of signals... so what good is a fast internet and live tv and gps from sprint going to do for me when i cant get a signal at all... ?

long live iphone.
