AT&T Wi-Fi Log In Doesn't Work With SMS Disabled

AT&T's free Wi-Fi for subscribers to their iPhone data plans sounds great and all, and goodness knows we've been waiting for it long enough, but you have to jump through quite a few hoops to access it. Now it turns out that not only do they require cell data access, but the complicated process may make some users unable to use it.

To log in to an AT&T Wi-Fi hotspot, you have to be able to receive a free SMS message from AT&T. Users are reporting, however, that despite having received the standard free SMSs from the company in the past, users with SMS notifications disabled are not able to log into their Wi-Fi.

“Looks like those of us with text messaging disabled cannot receive the code to get on attwifi. I gave it a try at my local Starbucks, never received a message even though I still get official AT&T texts.”

Easy Wi-Fi is a huge help!

I thought it was a huge pain having to enter your phone number and wait for a text back each time I wanted to use my iPhone at Starbucks!

I came across an app called Easy Wi-Fi. It was just updated for AT&T hotspots and it rocks!

Once it is set up all you do is start the app and click the connect button. After a second you are connected! No texts and no entering your phone number time after time!

It's 1.99 and well worth it if you visit Starbucks as much as I do!

Easy Wi-Fi

"Easy Wi-Fi", hmmm... I am going to have to give that a try. I saw all those other 3rd Party apps that allowed users to connect to other Wi-Fi systems and thought that AT&T should have just put out one of those. But if that application does it now, I am going to have to check that out!

It looks like "Easy Wi-Fi" will work if you have another method that allows you access to ATTWiFi, like because you are an AT&T DSL subscriber or because you specifically got their service to access ATTWiFi. The problem with the iPhones is, you have to enter your phone number and they give you SMS you back temporary access for 24 hours. Since I do subscribe to AT&T DSL, this is a good solution for me. But if you only have an iPhone, than this application won't specifically help you.

AT&T, come out with an 3rd party application that will allow you to authenticate over the WiFi network!

Easy Wi-Fi works!

I do not have a seperate AT&T DSL account or anything like that and it still works.

During the quick setup of Easy Wi-Fi I entered by phone number once and that was it. No SMS messages, no re-entering a phone number..nothing..just go to Starbucks, connect to AT&T Wi-Fi as do with any Wi-Fi connection (seamless) and click the connect button on Easy Wi-Fi!

I am sold on this app! Try it out!
