Skype Over 3G Coming “Very Soon”

With Apple and AT&T lifting the ban on VoIP over 3G, we’ve been starting to wonder what has taken Skype so long. After their announcement to bring always-on VoIP to the BlackBerry and Android on Verizon’s network, we even thought that maybe they were holding out on us as part of their deal with AT&T’s competition. Now Skype is saying that the OTA app is finally on the way.

“Very soon,” was the timeline given by Skype CEO Josh Silverman. He says that while they hadn’t announced anything during that time, they had been “tuning” the software to get it ready and that and the Skype users “will have it very soon.”

Good news, and about time!
