Second Year in a Row iOS 4.2.1 Users Encounter Alarm Issues
If you recall around the same time last year, people all around the world were complaining about their alarms not going off, and they were eventually reassured by Apple that the problem would resolve itself. Similarly, according to Engadget, the problem is occurring for many users this year who are either stubborn to update to iOS 5 or simply aren’t able to and are stuck with iOS 4.2.1.
Users still on older firmware, namely Apple’s iOS 4.2.1, are encountering the problem where the standard alarm application’s functionality failed to successfully work somehow related to the change of the year. There are multiple people who are complaining about how they woke up late this morning, and even though I’m not on iOS 4.2.1, I was last year and vividly remember waking up late for some event.
The best way to fix the problem currently is to reset your alarm, which is just another way for us to say that you need to reconfigure it. Simply delete your existing alarms, and remake them with the alarm application. Or you can skewer through the countless number of applications on the App Store and use one of those for the time being.
Like we stated, the problem is only happening in devices running 4.2.1, which means older devices including the iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2nd generation who were abandoned by Apple and 4.2.1 is the latest compatible firmware. If you’re still running iOS 4.2.1 and you have an iPhone 4, you may as well update – if you’ve been holding back because of the lack of the jailbreak, then you need not worry because an untethered jailbreak was released just a few days ago for your device. And if you’ve got an iPhone 4S, you shouldn’t even take a look at this post because, unless you’re only interested, because your phone was never running iOS 4.2.1.
