Rumor: Apple Collaborating With Volkswagen To Make "iCar"

There are several cars on today's market that boast iPod integration, and a few that have already announced such compatibility with the iPhone, but now rumors have surfaced that Apple may in fact be planning to enter this arena as well. They've given us the iMac, iPod and the iPhone already, and now German magazine Capital is reporting (google translation) that talks between Apple and Volkswagen are in an early stage for a so-called "iCar".

According to a Volkswagen company spokesperson, the two company heads held talks a few days ago in California on more heavily incorporating Apple products in Volkswagen's compact cars.

Just a note, the Mac Rumors says that the term "iCar" is said to just be a preliminary designation for the project, similar to the "iTV" project.

I don't know if i can see them getting into the car business. I mean, what can they really do ti make it an "iCar"? You'd think all they could do is make a build in iPod adapter, which is obviously available currently.
