Rogers Wireless To Offer New iPhone Plans October 1st

An anonymous source for iPhone Canada is claiming that Rogers Wireless is planning to revamp their highly-criticized data plans for the iPhone 3G on October 1st. It’s no secret that most people in Canada think that the original plans offered by Rogers were pretty outdated and grossly overpriced. The source says that Rogers is planning to update their plans to include more daytime minutes, MY5, and an extra 600MB of data.

In case you forgot, the old plans offered the following for $60/month:

  • 150 daytime
  • 9pm evening/weekends
  • 400MB data, 75 texts, Visual Voicemail
  • 3 months unlimited local calling

The source says that the new plans will offer the following for the same $60/month:

  • 250 daytime minutes
  • 9pm evening/weekends
  • MY5 Local
  • 1GB data, 75 texts, Visual Voicemail
  • 3 months unlimited local calling
  • 3 year contract

They will also be offering a $75/month plan offering:

  • 400 daytime minutes
  • 9pm evening/weekends
  • MY5 National
  • 2GB data, 100 texts, Visual Voicemail
  • 3 months unlimited local calling
  • 3 year contract

While it’s not a huge improvement, it is an improvement. There isn’t any word yet if current contract holders will get upgraded to the new plans. (We’re guessing that they probably will, although Rogers isn’t exactly known for their generosity.)
