Rent-a-Pad: iPad as In-Flight Entertainment

Jetstar, a domestic airline in Australia, has started offering iPads for in-flight entertainment as a $10 option. No word on whether a SkyMall app will be included. Multiple hotels have already started offering iPads in-room for their guests. For both industries, the iPad is a great entertainment device. With the iPad, users can now take advantage of numerous magazine and newspaper selections, staff recommended books, not to mention movies and games to keep the user entertained for the duration of the flight or hotel stay.

To me, however, what makes the iPad truly enjoyable is customizing to your specific taste. So would a borrowed iPad make me content, or simply whet my appetite for more iPad joy? Perhaps this is exactly what Apple wants.

Would you pay $10 to have an iPad on your next flight?
