Prowl: Growl Client For Your iPhone, Now In App Store

For a long time now, Growl has been making it easy to keep track of what your applications are up to on the Mac. In case you haven’t heard of it, Growl is an open notification platform on the Mac that creates a pop-up notification on your screen whenever one of your apps does something important. Now, a new app called Prowl merges this functionality with the iPhone’s Push Notifications service to let you keep an eye on things from anywhere.

The app has the potential to be incredibly useful, depending on how you use it. It can be used to replace the standard notifications for things like new mail, and if you use Tweetie it can send you a notification every time you get an @ reply or a DM on Twitter. Any application that sends out a growl notification on your Mac can now be used to send you a push notification on your iPhone.

You can get Prowl for $2.99 in the App Store.
