Pre-Orders for the iPhone 4S Begin at 12:01am
If the newest entry in the iPhone lineup has intrigued you enough to upgrade, then you will want to plan your purchase now. If it has not, then… well, if you are reading this site you are probably upgrading anyway.
Pre-orders will begin tomorrow, October 7 at 12:01am Pacific Time. iPhone 4S can be purchased on Apple’s online store or by calling 1-800-MY-APPLE at that time. Delivery will be as early as launch day, October 14, for buyers of the first batch of Apple.com-reserved inventory. Sprint customers will also be able to pre-order on the carrier’s online store at that time. It has not been confirmed when or if retail stores will offer the option to pre-order.
Apple will sell out of iPhone 4S devices slated for release day delivery quickly if last year is any indication. Very quickly. Within minutes. That is, unless the stock has been significantly increased this year; demand has proven to be too high for the first batch to last more than a day, if not an hour, regardless of size though. Additionally, users cited many errors occurring during the ordering process and also 1-800-MY-APPLE seizing to offer assistance due to extremely high call volume when iPhone 4 pre-orders began.
With 2-7 times better performance (especially for graphic-intensive apps) and a high quality 8-megapixel/1080p camera, iPhone 4S has been completely redesigned internally. The addition of Siri, a virtual personal assistant that can be talked to as if it were a human, makes the purchase that much more compelling.
Make sure to update the information on your Apple account in preparation for pre-orders so that the ordering process can be completed in as little time as possible. It seems fitting to end with a “good luck…”
