NetShare Back In iTunes App Store [Update: Pulled Again]

We're not sure why, but as mysteriously as it left last night, Nullriver Inc.'s NetShare is back on the App Store and available for download once again. Strangely, it's only available via this direct link here- NetShare- App Store, and it will not show up in searches. At first glance at it's iTunes page, it does not appear to have any noticeable differences and it still says it's version 1.0, so we don't think they edited it in any way to comply with demands from Apple. Let us know if it works for you in the comments.

Update: Apple has pulled the application again with no explanation why.

steamship walk.

I noticed right before the post and have dled it, not sure how long this will last though. I used this link:

Downloaded and installed just fine.

Downloaded and installed successfully. Checking it now.

Gentlemen, I am proud to say that this is working perfectly and I am posting this via EDGE. Get your copy while you can!!!

You can search for "Net Share"

If you search in iTunes for "Net Share" (including the quotes and space between the t and S) it will find it.

I just tried to find it and appears in the AppStore on the iPhone (search). Great!

No, it's there...

Umm, I'm confused. It is there, on the app store. You say that it won't show up if you search, but it does.

I searched for "Null River" and it popped right up.

Hope this helps.

I would like to add that AT&T prohibits tethering your phone to your computer, which is connecting your phone via a cable to your computer to use the phones internet. This is not a tethering app, it shares your internet connection over WiFi. So it should not be against their TOS. They could close your account though if you go over their 5GB limit.

Why pay for something you can do for free????

It works

It works on my iPhone 1stGen.
Speed is ok for me.

Downloaded, but not running with XP yet.

I found these instructions on HowardForums, but I have not been able to got NetShare to work yet. with XP. Anyone else?

In iPhone App Store

I just searched for it in the App store on my phone and it came up, so you can download it directly to your phone without having to go to that link.

Just to add some clarification-At the time Ed wrote the story the Application could not be found in the Application store, however now it can as any of you have realized.

Any work around to make this work with Mail in os x

this works Great, in Safari and there is a easy work around for ichat so it works over using the proxy settings.

iTunes works as well automatically.

How ever Mail in OS X will not allow you to configure the Proxy port settings.

Does anyone have any ideas on a work around to get mail working with this app.

F.Y.I: Downloaded it at 1250pm (pst) no problem. Also it showed up in app store if you search for it on your iPhone. Don't know about now though.

AT&T hahaha

YES, it works great, At&t are a bunch of snakes. they would have us paying 30$ a month for tethering...

So does this

So does this get us in trouble with AT&T or anything like that?

I'm actually replying using this app!! it seems to be working for the most part. The only question that I have is..... What does AT&T think about this app and is it approved by them? I don't want to get hit with an outrageous bill. Does anyone have any insight on AT&T's position on this app?
Thanks!!

Just tried to buy it and got a message that it's not available.

It's not longer available from the App Store. I can see the icon from Nullriver but I can't download it. At one point it looked like it was going to install then it gave me a pop up that the app is no longer available.

Same for me
It's in the AppStore, but not available for download

"The item you've requested is not currently available in the US store."

Not exactly true. According to AT&T's Wireless Data Services Terms of Service, AT&T defines tethering as:

"Furthermore, unlimited plans (except for DataConnect and Blackberry Tethered) cannot be used for any applications that tether the device (through use of, including without limitation, connection kits, other phone/PDA-to-computer accessories, Bluetooth® or any other wireless technology) to laptops, PCs, or other equipment for any purpose."

Wifi is the "other wireless technology."

I expect this app to be blocked somehow sometime soon by the app store... which is a shame.

What the heck? Will someone please buy it for me when it's available again? I'll pay you back.

All apps are DRM'd to the phone that bought it. For one, it won't work on your iPhone, it's serialized to the person's who bought it. And secondly, paying the person doesn't pay the developer for their hard work.

AT&T and tethering

why is everyone talking about AT&T and tethering? AT&T is NOT the only carrier on this planet selling iPhones so I certainly hope that Apple is not blocking an app because AT&T doesnt like it!!!!!

...not currently available in US

Agree. I'm allowed to tether with my $30.00 6 GB data plan on Rogers HSPA/EDGE network. Problem is Apple appears to not want anyone to have this app which makes no sense since it doesn't harm the iPhone EDGE or iPhone 3G and Apple can if they wanted to filter apps in the App Store based on country. Such as Loopt is only available in the USA App Store for AT&T network users but not in the Canadian one for Rogers/Fido customers. Apple is not just pissing off their developers by doing this censoring but also their customers. The NetShare app was available when I was at work but was to busy to download it to the iPhone 3G though I thought I would be able to download it after work. I was wrong in that assumption since Apple's goons monitoring the App Store pulled the app again. Actions such as this are contradictory to fair business practice and will leave customers with more reason to not buy from the App Store and instead hack their iPhones to use either installerapp 4 when released or Cydia.
